The Hurt Project is an NYC-based blues band featuring original blues by guitarist, songwriter, and southern expat Marlon Hurt. (For newer, original blues rock, see Marlon's current group, Queens County Roots.) Marlon has been honored to collaborate with many up-and-coming bluesmen and blueswomen over the years.
Before The Hurt Project, Marlon--raised outside Atlanta as the son of a blues guitarist--worked as lead guitarist for the piano rock group, The Conditionals, and then the classic blues band, The Brooklyn Blues Project. After breaking away from a blues cover band in 2012, THP released a studio album of blues standards and completed a ten day tour of the Montana blues circuit where they played various venues, from intimate, 30-person clubs to 2,000-person festivals.
The Project performed regularly throughout New York City, where they opened for Jane Lee Hooker at The Rock Shop (September, 2015), and were honored to be included in two Hurricane Sandy benefit performances to help rebuild after the storm tore through the city in 2012. The incomparable Beth Hart has called them "a great band."
Marlon Hurt's original songs can be found on The Hurt Project's 2014 singles release, The Shady Bear Sessions, the 2015 EP, After the Storms, and the 2016 full-length acoustic demo--conceived and co-created with THP alum Michael "The Bull" LoBue--titled Bare Bones.
The Project is currently on hiatus. To contact Marlon, email thehurtproject@gmail.com.
